The Red Sea Environmental Centre (RSEC) is a young, private science and conservation institute. It was originated in 2003 (former name: Sinai Environmental Center) and is nowadays a non-profit association, registered in Austria. The RSEC combines a marine biological station at the southeast coast of the Sinai in Dahab, Egypt. A second station is planned near to El-Quseir, located on the egyptian mainland.
What do we offer? Information-Education-Research...
The RSEC field station in Dahab offers, among other activities, reef biological courses and seminars, as well as the chance for students to carry out their Master thesis or student research projects under general supervision. Junior- and senior scientist may conduct scientific projects with the logistic help of the scientists running the field station. Universities are welcome to carry out biological or geoscientific excursions for students and will be supported in many ways. People interested independent of their age and of previous knowledge in natural science, are welcome to participate in our reef biological courses and seminars (from 1h to 2 weeks). All our courses can be combined with diving and snorkelling activities. Beginners as well as advanced divers have the chance to attend an adequate course, held at our partner dive centre. |

Nature Conservation and Volunteering work Nature conservation projects, especially reef studies and science projects are planned and conducted at the RSEC. Young people can apply for voluntary work over several months (with supervision), can participate in nature conservation projects and become an active part in the protection of the coral reefs. In any case they will learn a lot of the biology of coral reefs and its threats. |
